The Village of DeForest is joining communities across the country in preparing for America’s 250th anniversary in 2026. This once-in-a-generation milestone is an opportunity to reflect on our shared history, celebrate our community, and look ahead to the future we are building together. America 250 Community Art Project

As part of DeForest’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, we’re inviting residents of all ages to take part in a collaborative Community Art Project. Participants will create individual pieces that will be combined into a large, vibrant mural displayed in a public space within the Village. This project is a chance for our community to express what America, DeForest, and our shared future mean to us—through color, creativity, and connection. Whether you’re an experienced artist or picking up a paintbrush for the first time, everyone is welcome to help shape this lasting tribute to America’s 250th year.

A Mural Made By Many

As we prepare to celebrate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, our community comes together through art to reflect on our shared history, diverse voices, and hopes for the future. Join the community through creativity and collaboration, as we honor the past, celebrate the present, and imagine the next 250 years—together!

No artistic experience is needed, just bring your creativity! All materials are provided, and the classes are open to all ages. Once completed, all tiles will be assembled into a collaborative public art piece that will be displayed in the Village of DeForest.
