On June 16th, the Village of DeForest initiated its budget planning process with a kickoff presentation to the Village Board. This presentation also reviewed financial policies and goals, strategic items, defined roles and set expectations.

The Village of DeForest provides a wide range of services that support our community each and every day—from public safety and infrastructure maintenance to recreation programs, community development, and administrative services. Explore the department tabs below to learn more about the responsibilities, priorities, and budget considerations for each area. As each department presents its proposed 2027 budget, presentation materials and additional information will be added to the corresponding tab, providing residents with greater insight into the programs, services, and projects that shape our community and guide budget decisions.

The Community Development Department guides DeForest's growth and development through planning, zoning, economic development, building inspections, and development review.

The Cornerstone Community Center serves as a vibrant gathering place that promotes wellness, lifelong learning, recreation, and social connection. Through a variety of programs, services, and activities, the Center enhances quality of life, encourages active and healthy lifestyles, and fosters meaningful community engagement for residents of all ages.

The DeForest Area Public Library serves as a community hub that provides access to information, lifelong learning opportunities, technology resources, educational programming, and gathering spaces for residents of all ages. The library supports literacy, lifelong learning, and community connection.

DeForest Windsor Fire & EMS provides fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue operations, fire prevention, public education, and emergency preparedness for the communities it serves. The department is committed to protecting lives and property through highly trained personnel, advanced equipment, and rapid emergency response.

The Administration Department provides leadership and support for Village operations while ensuring efficient, transparent, and responsive local government. This department oversees financial management, human resources, communications, elections, legal services, information technology, and the implementation of Village Board policies and strategic initiatives.

The Police Department is dedicated to protecting and maintaining public safety through law enforcement, crime prevention, emergency response, and community policing efforts. The department emphasizes building positive relationships with residents and businesses to create a safe and welcoming community.

The Public Services Department maintains and improves the Village's infrastructure and public spaces. Responsibilities include streets, snow and ice control, water utility operations, stormwater management, parks maintenance, forestry, fleet maintenance, and other essential services that keep the community safe, and functional all year-round.

The Recreation & Community Enrichment Department enhances quality of life by providing recreational programs and special events that serve residents of all ages. The department strives to foster connections and a strong sense of community.
